Alan Siegel

Graphic Designer Bio:
Alan Siegel August 26, 1938–Present) is the CEO of Siegelvision, a brand identity consultancy, and is the founder and Chaurman Emeritus of global brand strategy firm Sigel+Gale. Siegel attended the Industrial Labor Relations School at Cornell University.  In 1969, Sigel and Robert Gale, a designer that Siegel worked with at Sandgren & Murtha, established their own agency, Siegel+Gale. Initially the agency drew in clients that were mostly interested in developing their visual identities. Over the years, Siegel+Gale grew from a logo and design focused company to pioneering the development of corporate voice and simplification. The firm's notable clients have included Dell, MasterCard, the NBA, Caterpillar, 3M, Xerox, American Express and The New School. In 1979, the Internal Revenue Service hired Siegel to transform existing tax forms, resulting in the 1040-EZ form. Siegel also worked on simplifying bank contracts and Census Bureau forms.

NBA logo that currently stands as a fixture that represents the NBA still to this day. The classic image generates $3 billion a year in licensing, and the NBA name symbolizes the pinnacle of excellence in professional basketball.

Concept designed is said to be Jerry West but;  “They want to institutionalize it rather than individualize the classic symbol and focal point of their identity and their licensing program that they don’t necessarily want to identify it with one player.” -Sige
