Billie Holiday

Billie Holiday - 1915-1959

American Jazz Singer and Songwriter

NOTES from Professor

1. Good start... the photos are well chosen and they are not skewed... you have the overview of the process working well...

Now we should redo the typography for next week. On second thought the bottom left image perhaps has her face stuffed into the frame too tightly. We want the type to be more legible and bolder overall...I just made an example for you and will post it... The font is Arial Black for her name and Arial regular for the postage and USA. I used kerning to stretch the letters to align them with the margin lines I set up....

2.Thanks for the re-do... almost there...

Pick one like the lower left and upper right and use the same template of type on all 4. The 44 is still too small... make it so the left and right side of 44 matches each edge of USA... see my example. You can darken her shoulder in the bottom right picture by selecting it with the lasso and feathering the selection, then using IMAGE>ADJUSTMENT>BRIGHTNESS/DARKNESS. That way the white type wll look good and be visible. So the same to the upper left background, and upper right shoulder.

Hang in...

  1. Not done yet... little details matter! :)

Top left photo got skewed or squashed in You want to crop a photo to fit a space and not distort it to fit...

The 44 USA is pushed into the upper left corner with no margins top or left... A better placement that would give a better overall balance is to put it in the upper right... Remember to leave a margin... the same width as the name.
