2. Graphic Designer: Katherine McCoy


                               Katherine McCoy born Katherine Jane Braden, 1945 American Graphic Designer


Katherine graduated from Michigan State University in 1967 bd began working for Unimark International.  There she learned and was exposed to the strict SWISS typograph and design approaches that were popular in the 1960s and 70s
Best known for her work as Co-chaie of the graduate design program for Cranbrook Academy of Art.  Over the years Katherine has designed a lot a material for Cranbrook- Quarterly magazines, Catalogues, posters and other projects.    
 
                                                 

Katherine also served as the first woman president of the Industrial Design Society of America (1983–1985), sat on the national advisory board of the AlGA, and chaired the Design Arts Fellowship Grant Panel for the National Endowment for the Arts for three years.

Today, Katherine and her husband spend their time in the mountains of Colorado,

Over her career, she has won 10 awards.  The one below she received in 1999.
The medal of AIGA—the most distinguished in the field—is awarded to individuals in recognition of their exceptional achievements, services or other contributions to the field of design and visual communication.
