1. Graphic Designer: Paul Rand


 
Paul Rand born Peretz Rosenbaum  1914 - 1996
 
 
 
Paul Rand was an American Graphic designer who was self taught.  His work is some of the best of his time.  He was doing the work when computers were not around and things were a lot harder.
 
Rand was educated at Pratt Institute, Parsons the New School for Design, Art students League and he taught at Yale University.  He was also inducted into the New York Arts Directors Club Hall of Fame in 1972. Although Rand is Famous for corporate logos he created in the 1950s and 60s, his work in page design is the main source of his reputation.
 
Rand devoted his final years to design work and writing his memoirs.  In 1996, Rand died of cancer here in Connecticut
